Your skill and good judgment - along with Maxima's powerful engine, nimble suspension and 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes - can help keep you out of most dangerous situations. But whenever that isn't enough, Maxima surrounds you with over 50 standard safety features, including some of the most advanced air bag and restraint systems available.

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) (opt.) adjusts brake fluid pressure on each wheel electronically, preventing wheel lock and contributing to safer braking.
Active head restraints- move forward and upward to support head in the event of Impact from the rear. This helps to reduce impact force to the neck.

A high mounted stop lamp clearly indicates to following drivers when the brakes are being applied.

Standard Driver's Air Bag. Dual Air Bags & Side Air Bags Standard on GV Grade with Leather interior.

Fog Lamps (30GV) improve visibility under foggy or rainy conditions.

Powerful Xenon (opt. 30GV) or CSR (Complex Surface Reflector) halogen Headlamps illuminate a wider area and boast greater intensity.
Power windows with anti-squeeze function employ sensors to detect the presence of any obstruction in the path of the closing window and automatically return it to the down position.

Seat belt pre-tensioners
(std. 30GV; opt. 30J) function by immediately taking up seat belt slack, for faster restraint in the event of a frontal collision exceeding a certain impact level. Load Limiters (std. 30GV; opt. 30J) occupant by the seat belt from reaching an excessive level. The rear center position also comes with a head rest (30GV) and 3-point seat belts (opt.).

Designed with the aid of super computers, the impact-absorbing body is divided into two separate zones: a crushable zone designed to absorb collision impact, and a safety restraint zone that acts as a protective shell around the vehicle occupants.
